Absurd.

Don't 'taste' wine, drink it, with food.

But most foods can't be drunk.

Having difficulty with English, are we? 'Drink it, with food.' Seems clear enough to me. Drugs are often prescribed with instructions to 'take with food'.

"Aspirin Aspirin reduces pain, fever and inflammation. Aspirin is available in many brands.

INTERACTION--Because aspirin can cause stomach irritation, avoid alcohol. To avoid stomach upset, take with food. Do not take with fruit juice."

Only Americans, in their naivete, would do such a thing.

Au contraire! European wine afficionados do this too. It's a social and educational experience, rolled into one. Food is part of the event too, but it plays a supporting role.

Absurd practice. Drink it, don't taste it.

I simply disagree with those who observe this abominable practice.

Oops - sorry. I've been away for a few weeks, busy with the crush, and haven't been following this NG very closely. Please don't tell me we have another Vincent Vega on our hands!

Worse! This one just won't go away !

He has one track thinking; won't consider that his knowledge is limited to Italian wines only; is so F.I.T.H. that he cannot even write the words France or French.

Over and over and over, he pops up spouting that wine starts spoiling milliseconds after opening (his very first post stated that wine spoiled so fast that he actually replaced the cork into the bottle between pourings!!!) and that wine should *never* be partaken without food, irrespective of purpose or occasion.

Furthermore, despite all efforts to illuminate, cajole, educate or encourage, he remains with a mind like concrete - all mixed up and permanently set.

Most of us have simply kill filled him - I respectfully suggest that any response to UC is a waste of time and effort.

Who's Vincent Vega?

Simply beacsue a lot of people have 'tastings' dosn't mean it's a sensible or meanigful practice. It is neither.

Lots of people believe in astrology, too.
