Yes, I recall one of you posting about that. But, I'm sure you'll agree with me that the majority of plonk Lambrusco is slightly bubbly, don't you? :-) Anders

Alas, Lambrusco is so often maligned that the question begs - Is Lambrusco wine?
Lambrusco is an ancient wine, dating back to Roman times, though, of course, there is no telling whether it has any resemblance to present day product.
It is produced only in Emilia-Romagna, Italy; more specifically in the area extending from Reggio Emilia, through Modena, to Bologna.
There are a number of different kinds, made from different varietals of the Lambrusco grape, all of which come in sweet or dry.
Lambrusco's sparkle is considerably lower key than that of Champagne. When poured it froths up, then settles down, leaving a faint ring around the edge of the glass.
It is characteristically light, fruity and refreshing -- not much in the way of tannins or body, and relatively acidic.

Yes it's usually bubbly, slightly or not. Still lambrusco is still produced in very limited quantities, since the majority of the wineyards produce only traditional (read: sparkling) lambrusco, and the ones who are pioneering the still version are working mostly on sparkling and only sperimentally in still.
Dry Lambrusco are the majority, here in Emilia, but you always see those "amabile" and "dolce" bottles around, expecially in supermarkets. In wine-shops and wine-bars they never have those sweet lambruscoes, and this says much about theyr quality ;)
These are the three DOC in Modena county, and theyr borders have been decided upon the most popular lambrusco grapes in the area. In Reggio the DOC are 2: "Reggiano" and "Colli di Scandiano e Canossa", based on the average quality of the two areas, the latter being the most favorable thanks to it's hills. In Parma they have a unique DOC "Colli di Parma" which includes all of the local hill area.
Spelling correct. 2 note: Bellei is friggin' expensive, I heard of 9 euros per bottle of dry Lambrusco di Sorbara. Casali and Caprari are good mid-level producers, while Venturini Baldini, Rinaldini and Ermete Medici are somewhat better. Somewhat, since many of these producers do both high quality wine and big-numbers plonk.
Thanks! A
Last time I heard this, my answer was "Tomorrow at dawn behind the church. And bring a witness" ;)
Fiachi at 20 m? :P

Yes. Fuoco a 20 metri.
Hope this helps to find at least the one above:
