I woudl agree with Berry Bros & Rudd as an obvious point of call.
El Vino's in Fleet Street is a good traditional wine bar much beloved of barristers and journalists and may be just what you are looking for on that front.
Don't miss a good pub or two and try some proper beer - make sure it is real, that is to say living, beer not from a keg pushed out by gas. Youngs, Greene King, Theakston, Black Sheep, Wadworths are all names to look for amongst several hundred others. Both the Good Food Guide and the Good Pub Guide are very well worth consulting as they tell you what is available amongst the best and give an idea of atmosphere etc. Have a good trip.
