NYC area wine clubs for newbie

hi,

i'm in the New York City area.. and I'd like to learn and share experience about wine.. are they any clubs, meeting places.. i should try to go and learn as well as share Wine experience with?

Hi, This is the best place to start. This News post has a great many knowledgeable people who are helping each other. Simply stay on and you will receive many worthwhile suggestions. I have been tuned to this post for just a bout a week and the amount of information exchanged has been absolutely phenomenal. I am not aware of the New York City scene so I am unable to comment. you may be able to get the information from here without leaving your home.

I wrote a fairly long response, then lost it in a fit of compuidiocy.

I don't know clubs, but know there are- check Craigslist.org. Also sign up at localwineevents.com.

There are a variety of winebars in Manhattan (sorry, my Queens/LI knowledge is minimal).

Best way to learn- taste. Beyond your won purchases, maybe store tastings. Most major wine retailers in metro area have regular tastings (almost all have something Sat afternoons). I'd especially recommend Chambers St Wines, but Sherry-Lehmann, Morrells, Acker all have. If you have a car, take a hop over the Whitestone, go to Zachys. You can meet people, too. Dale
