Please advice if these are good red wines.

Hi all,

I have little knowledge on red wine. I have with me 2 bottles of wine. Out of curiousity, would like the experts out there to advice if there are good red wine :

1) 2003, Ventisquero, Merlot, Colchagua Valley, Chile 2) Grand Vin De Bordeaux, Chateau La Croix, Bordeaux 2003, Cabernet sauvignon merlot

Thanks.

Well, there is only one way to find it out: taste it! No, serious, what is "good red wine" at all? First of all, the bottle has to be "healthy", then you have to like this variety, after that, it depends on in what occassion you drink it, stand-alone or accomplying the food, is the temperature right....and so on. I'm personally not really big fan of merlots, but had Ventisquero Grey Merlot Premium some months ago. It was decent wine with red berries, cinnamon, leather and pepper aroma, maybe some tobacco. Nice fruity, fresh wine. Try to drink this wine from a nice Cab. Sauvignon glass, on some 15 degree celsius, with some red meat or - why not - nice grilled fish like tuna steaks and I'm sure you'll like it.
