Please recommend light-medium bodied white wine

Hi Cynthia, you know what you might want to do, is get a copy of Andrea Immer's book, "Great Wine Made Simple" (anyone know if it came out in paperback?). It's a pretty good guide to wine types, and it's got producers in various price ranges (and from all over the world), so you can compare and contrast different types.

Check your local library, that's where I first saw it, and liked it enough to buy my own copy.

I know this isn't exactly an answer to your question, I'll defer to the more knowledgeable posters here...

Hey Cynthia, even better, once you get it, get some friends together to experiment!

Have fun! dei

Hi, all

Can anyone recommend some decent but not too expensive white wine, from light to medium bodied?

Thanks

Dei,

Cool, it is an much better answer than I have thought! I placed a hold on this book from local library one minute ago:-)

Thanks,

I like the Villa Maria SB and the Jacob's Creek Reserve Reisling. Both are well distributed (ie can be found in supermarkets) and are in the $12 range.

Cynthia, You will likely get more responses if you can be more specific. As you've currently stated your question, it's a lot like asking, "What paintings should I buy? I like the color blue" The less open-ended you can be, the easier for us to help you. For starters, do you like dry, off-dry or sweet white wines? What price range do you mean by "not too expensive"? What wines have you really liked that could serve as reference points for us?

I often buy Chateau Bonnet, a French white. It is crisp and dry, and light. I often prefer a little more body, but this has been a favourite of mine for about a decade. It sells for about $13 Canadian in Ontario, which should put it under $10 in the US.
