A funny coda to the Montiano offline I reported on last month. A couple weeks later, Joe Bongiorno (Mark L. you've met Joe) was heading to Rome (to cook, not to play music). His Alitalia flight from Newark was canceled, they sent him to JFK. As an apologetic gesture, put him in 1st class lounge to wait. Whereupon Ricardo Cotarella emerged from a conference room.
Joe introduced himself, told him re our offline. Cotarella was interested, Joe pulled notes off the web. Cotarella ended up inviting Joe to an event in Orvieto the next day, and picked him up at his hotel. Joe had a ball meeting a variety of Italian wine journalists, and Renzo Cotarella drove him back to his hotel. Joe was showing pictures at a cookout at my place last night.
Why don't I meet famous winemakers? Dale
