PS, NZ SB

I've just collected a long awaited case of 2003 Nobilo Marlborough SB. TN to follow.

This is not at all what I expected. The nose is muted and understated, not the typical NZ SB "in yer face" hit of grass and pear drops at all. This tastes more like a 2-3 year old SB/semillon blend, honeyed, concentrated and full. The word is that 2003 NZ vintages are small, so this may be the concentration that usually would take at least a year to develop. This is a fine wine, but it is not typically young NZ SB. It will be interesting to see what the rest of the usual players produce from a difficult year.

Regards,

Ian
