TN: 2004 Kim Crawford SB

Opened last night with a dinner of Malaysian seafood curry soup and red chicken curry, to see if Lord St. H's pronouncements about the quality of the '04 Sauvignon vintage in Kiwiland were to be believed.

nose: explosively fruity, with tropical notes and pronounced grassy character palate: rich, intense, grapefruit, grassiness, crisply acidic

Excellent wine, full of fruit and tasting almost sweet (though no RS I'm sure). This is what Marlborough SB is all about. The only down side is that the price has gone up this year to $18 per bottle, making it less of a QPR favorite.

Now listen here young Prof!!!

Methinks that the promotion and lack of sleep, caused by the baying of babe, has been to the detriment of your memory.

I certainly reported that the *quantities* coming out of Marlborough were over double the '03 vintage - however, I reserved my decision in respect of

*quality*

I have indeed, had a couple superb '04s - but also some disappointments, and even a couple of well known brands which were positively mediocre.

I have been taking things easy on the consumption front over the past month or so, building up for a BIG December/New Year - and will post a few notes in a month or so.

Kindest Regards

I had a Matua 2004 recently, TN for which I posted some time back. But, yes, my impression was an explosion of fruit, no astringency, and even that word "sweet", in the nicest possible sense, not normally associated with NZ SB. Should be a good year. Has anyone had Nobilo's effort yet?
