Hello my group,

I am new into the wonderful world of wine. I have learned that hard alcohol and my mind does work, but what does work is sipping on a nice glass of white wine.

I have tried all types of white mostly from the interior region of British Columbia, Canada. Last summer my wife and I did the tours and found out that the place to be is there if you enjoy wine.

Examples - Sandhill, Pinot Gris Geringer Brothers, Pinot Noir Kendal Jackson - Chardonnay And a few Italian Pinot Grigio's

My question is, where do I go to get educated on the wonderful world of wine?

Look forward to hearing from you.

No secret method or place. Everyones different in their likes. For me I love touring wine country visiting wineries and tasting what they have to offer. After several trips and varying locations I learned what wines I like and what I didn't.

Hello "Strat", There are a few magazines that can get you started (Wine Spectator, Wine Enthusiast, Wine Advocate); just be careful not to get TOO hung up on the results of their tastings. Your tastes are likely to differ from theirs.

Welcome to the NG and to the "world of wine." Your journey has just begun. You have found a great starting point - touring the wineries, themselves. For a "next step," you might want to consider a book by Andrea Immer (now Robinson), "Great Wine Made Simple," ("Straight Talk from a Master Sommelier") ISBN 0-

7679-0477-X. It is a "wine course," and goes a long way to introducing one to the world of wine. Plus, the "homework" is all about tasting and enjoying wines. She covers a lot of the basics, and doesn't get hung up on the details. One can always grab any number of excellent books, when they WANT that detail.

Get some good Italian regional cookbooks and get some of the wines from those regions. There is no better way to learn about how wine and food go together than to enjoy them in their proper relationship.
