STEMWARE - GREATER TORONTO AREA?

Apr 27, 2005 8 Replies

Hello,

Can anyone offer advice as to a good shop in the Greater Toronto Area with reasonable prices for Reidel/Speigelau (Authentis specifically).

Also, can anyone confirm that with the limited research I've done on the web, buying from an online (US) retailer would be the better way to go? It certainly appears this way with the prices/sites I've been on. Reputable online shop recommendations would be appreciated as well.

Cheers,

- Ian

Amazon.com usually has quite good prices on the Authentis lineup. Occasionally, they'll also run a quite attractive 2 for 1 deal.

I think the best deals for Riedel are at Brown Derby

With Riedel, there is a "suggested retail price" and then a "minimum retail price" that the company allows any retailers to offer the glassware for. If you use a price compare service on the internet, you'll quickly find the retailers who are offering that minimum allowable price.

From what I recall, 30% off Reidel everyday and twice a year they will have 40% off. November is one month, I believe, they have 40% off Reidel. I am not associated with the wine merchant, just a happy customer.

You write "Reidel" like so many others in your country - have another look at the above URL you supplied! :-) Anders

You should hear how most Americans (including me, before I was corrected by my Austrian husband when we met) pronounce it! Rye-dell, with 2 syllables.

Thanks everyone, much appreciated.

Rye-dell,

You could try also the wine establishment (on the esplenade, east of Yonge)

Wineonline.ca carries limited glassware.

also carries lots of glassware. There's also a Rosehill Cellars that should have glassware as well. The Wine Establishment probably has the largest selection though.

Rye-dell!!?? Well, that explains it, I guess. :-) Anders
