Larry told me he picked too much Syrah, and these were left-overs. Gawd they were sweet. I *knew* they would be, but they *were*. To be fair, a couple of kids said they were sour. Kids! What do they know? I didn't chew the seeds to see if they tasted like almonds, a trick suggested to me by Josh Chandler, the brilliant Pinot Noir maker at Lazy Creek. Maybe I'll go back tomorrow to Larry's. It's
10 minutes from here.I *did* snag a couple of crop-circle tee-shirts. Larry is not only a great farmer, he's got a sense of humor when people were trampling his wheat field.
Anyway, next time someone says ripe wine grapes are sweet... they're right.
