[TN] '05 Ch. Paradis Casseuil

Tonight, Andrew and I bought a rack of lamb, locally grown asparagus and fiddlehead ferns for dinner and prepared them simply, with rice (and Tater Tots for Andrew). We took advantage of the lovely weather to have dinner outside and, Jean being amenable, I opened a bottle to go with the dinner:

2005 Ch. Paradis Casseuil Bordeaux nose: blueberries palate: fairly lean, acidity, fruit, smooth tannins

This was a Christmas gift from my research group that had been sitting in the "to drink" rack for a while. According to the label, this wine comes from the Lafite stable. Had I tasted it blind, not only would I have failed to guess that it was a Bordeaux, but would have likely guesssed that it was a Syrah, probably from Europe. Jean thought that it had a resiny streak to it, but for me it was squeaky clean blueberry fruit and not much else. A decent Tuesday night lamb wine, but no more.
