Andrew tonight requested that we make pasta together, so he and I made a batch of fettucini and another of cappelini. Jean and I tossed ours in some pesto that we have lying around in the freezer and Jean chose a lighter bodied red to go with it:
2009 Michel Tete (Clos du Fief) Beaujolais-Villages nose: grapefruit, a hint of red fruits, minerals, eventually becoming more cherryish palate: light body, muted fruit, decent acidity
An hour after the bottle was opened, the wine began to open as well, but it started out pretty well shut down. We saved half the bottle, so we'll see how it behaves after a day or two. Fake cork, so this wine is one for the short term.
