TN: 2010 Fleurie > 1982 Pauillac

Our weekly Zoom called featured the 1982 Ch Batailley. Good looking bottle, nice nose with a lot of cigarbox and pencil lead when first opened, a bit light foursquare yet also light. Fades over an hour or so, but fun when first opened, if not very 1982ish. B-

With Waygu burgers, sweet potato fries, and salad, the 2010 Clos de la Roilette (Coudert) ?Cuvee Tardive? Fleurie. This was hard and tight last time I tried a few years ago, but has opened up beautifully. Still some tannin, but not hard or gritty now. Beautiful black raspberry and cherry fruit, cocoa, leaves and earth. Good acidic balance, long finish, pretty much everything I want in a Cru Beaujolais. No hurry but drinking great. A-

Grade disclaimer: I'm a very easy grader, basically A is an excellent wine, B a good wine, C drinkable. Anything below C means I wouldn't drink at a party where it was only choice.Furthermore, I offer no promises of objectivity, accuracy, and certainly not of consistency.
