Thought we'd see how this was doing in honor of a nice roast duckling.
Color is very purple, almost like blackberry juice. Big initial nose of black fruit, tar, licorice. Very tight and tannic in the mouth, super structured, fruit well hidden but at first cassis, leather, licorice, chocolate, thyme. We saved a glass for after kids were put to bed (to enjoy with a classic Eastenders: who'd have imagined Pauline Fowler dressed as Dolly Parton?) but the fruit had totally disappeared leaving only steely structure and puckering tannins.
Conclusion: this one is in full hibernation. Hold for at least 5 years before trying again.
