[TN] Familiar and New

Over the past few nights, we've opened a few bottles. Two nights ago it was:

2011 Domaine de la Pepiere Muscadet Sevre et Maine "Sur Lie" nose: minerals, lightly citrusy palate: refreshing, light, crisp, dry

A wine familiar from earlier vintages, it did not disappoint. It has an almost rainwater-like freshness to it, yet pairs well with food and also is attractive on its own.

Tonight, with a mini-roast of wild boar (from D'Artagnan), we had:

2011 Enderle and Moll Pinot Noir "Liaison" nose: earthy, stones, bright red cherry fruit palate: medium-light body, deep fruit, good acidity, light tannins

I bought this bottle in Germany after visiting the winemakers in the Baden region, and it is one of the finest Pinot Noirs I've sampled in a long while. The sense of fruit was reminiscent of a New World Pinot Noir but the earthiness, minerality and acidity set it apart. Absolutely splendid with the wild boar. I'll be seeking out more Pinot Noir from this producer (available through Fass Selections in the US).
