No, in other groups. Here, I have been quite restrained and proper. In photographic groups, I often feel obliged to point out that the questioners seem to have the intellect of flower pots.

Of course. I know and admit that. I also know that what a lot of people believe they 'know' is actually false. A lot of the lore connected with 'tasting' and 'breathing', for instance, is absolute rubbish (in different ways, though).

Please see comment above. I would add that I have NO respect -- NONE -- for anyone who would open a 1995 Barolo "several hours" before serving it. This is despicable behaviour and displays gross ignorance. If I had paid for the wine, I'd have been furious.

It's amazing what one learns by trying it for oneself, and not giving a damn what tradition says. If I appear rude for saying these things, it is because you cannot distinguish between rudeness and contumacy. I'm never rude here.

Thanks, I'd appreciate that.

I do buy Lohsa MdS fairly regularly, not because it blows my socks off, but it is a fair wine, more versatile than VNdM and my favourite purveyor carries it. At about 10 british pounds (18 dollars) it's not great value for money IMHO, but it is one of the few easily-available, everyday-drinking Italian wines which both my partner and I like.

As far as my experience with SeM goes, if they were "good", Mateus or Blue Nun would be "fair", and I honestly doubt anything would be "bad". In your experience, which ones of SeM wines are good?

Looking forward to suggestions on MdS... Cheers

Just recently had their Cannonou Riserva, and interestingly there was a Spanish Garnache (which is supposed to be the same grape). The S&M Cannonou blew away the Spanish Garnache. Very nice wine for $11 or $12.

Will get back to you on that.

Ah well, to be sure, it ought to be better than many (even most) Spanish Granacha or also most southern French Grenache.

However, intra-Sardinian comparison would probably be more fair, since you anyway like that style more, do you not? To my mind (not being able to afford Turriga), the CdS from Nepente di Oliena is what I find "very good", Argiolas "good" and most reds from Santadi somewhere in the middle. Sella e Mosca's CdS is OK to my tastes too, but most of its white/ pink is not OK.

The problem, as I find, with SeM (and unfortunately increasingly with Argiolas) is their internationalised vinification style - one may be drinking wine from anywhere and not from THAT patch of land on the green island. This is something with NdO does so very well, IMHO. A sip and I can feel the rocks of Nuoro all around me.

How interesting. This is the one that I buy locally as well.

May I make a polite request? I don't find any of Mr. Scarpitti's comments acceptable, and that's why he has been killfiled here for a long time. The only time I get to read any of his nonsense is when somewhen else quotes it.

My request is simple: Please killfile him too. Trolls thrive on attention and eventually go away when they are ignored. Nobody likes talking to himsel.

The retailer I patronize the most has not been carrying the S&M line. I asked him to get some, so he did, and I liked both the CdS and the Vermentino, but I think the Costamolino by Argiolas is a bit fruitier.

I'll ask about Nepente di Oliena wines. Thanks for the tip.
