What is "Bordeaux horizontal"?

In reading wine reviews, I see this often. What does it mean? tia

That's how they end up in Bordeaux when they taste too many wines ;-)

A horizontal (tasting) is a tasting of several different wines from the same vintage.

One of the largest horizontals is the Union des Grands Crus de Bordeaux tasting week every year in March/April. Up to half a thousand wines - cask samples of the previous vintage - wait for a crowd of some 120 press plus 3000+ trade people.
