Not only is it poor humor, but if you think that what you call "our country" is the country of everyone here, you are very much mistaken. Usenet is an international medium, and this newsgroup, like most newsgroups, has participants from many parts of the world.

Well, someone pissed on your corn flakes today?

Reworded...In the USA....

Some of us do get a little tired of Americans assuming that nothing counts unless it is in the USA......and assuming that anyone else out there must be American as well.

I'd have let it pass, but I know where Ken is coming from.

Bit of humour in a potentially bad situation isn't all that bad. Canada, as you know has just gone through it. I took the post as meaning the country of any American members of the newsgroup. "My" country would have been a better choice for this ng.

Anyway, I'm sure many of us has made a slip of the tongue at some point in a ng.

All the best.

Bill, I said USA when I reworded instead of America....

Guess I could have said both cause the latest the USA is blaming this on Canada again. I find this amazing.

I understand where Ken Blake was coming from. It was not a problem. My posting was meant as a spoof anyway.

Agreed. When Canada went through it we stopped importing Canadian Beef in the USA and our prices virtually doubled over the past year. They price increase was due to two items:

1) Increased demand from Low Carb Diets like Adtkins

2) Reduced supply due to stopping Canadian Imports.

Now that we have the problem...same as the isolated case in Canada and now other countries are not allowing the import of USA Beef we will understand what Canada went through.

Also If our beef they claim is safe to eat, why did we stop importing Canadian Beef. Interesting isn't it.

The USDA is sending representatives to Japan to explain why ours is safe.

Fer crying out loud. With mad steak of unknown origin, drink "Mad Dog 20/20" of course. With all american mad steak, Screaming Eagle is obviously de "rigor".

Sorry, thought it too obvious to resist.

None the less we should have a thought for the thousands of jobs that may be lost because of this unfortunate occurence, not to mention the potential health ramifications. Not funny stuff.

Well, if you are insane you'll choose sparkling white wine - and then the choice would be the Vin Fou from the Jura... :-) Anders

Indeed. But also scorn and anger for those who do the nasty practice of feeding animal parts (bone meal, brains etc.) to cows. These producers who have cut corners have dug their own hole. Grass-fed or corn fed steak is more expensive (I'd rather eat alternatives than eat terrible quality beef) but since everyone benefits from the higher quality including the animals how could we go wrong with these practices?

Well now.

First I take offense to the American first thingy. I can't say I've never seen a bad American tourist. I've seen enough to know that they are very embarrassing. But like everybody else out there. There are good and bad people so knock off the pissing in the cornflakes. I could tell you stories that would embarrass the lot of you and I don't care what Country you come from. LOL.

As for what wine, I just bought a bottle with which I am opening on New Years.

("Fat Bastard") is the name. The wine I bought is a Shiraz.

Oh and BTW, Everyone is correct. A lot of people are affected by this terrible disease. The only thing the average people can do talk and joke about it and hope that the people involved do the right thing to protect all of us. Jobs, the food supply, the Stock Market and the average consumer.

With all due respect.
