What's everybody eating/drinking on Christmas day?

Well, after trying to determine which of my wines to bring up from the cellar, I just found out from my brother that our dad came home last night with a bottle of 2001 Justin Isosceles.

So I guess that settles the wine question. With it, we are having our traditional prime rib roast au jus.

For dessert, I picked up a 500ml bottle of 1999 Vin Santo del Chianti Classico, from Castello di Meleto. I tried this at a tasting last year and loved it, so I don't really care if WS didn't like it that much.

If we end up needing a second bottle of red, I'm going to open a Raymond Generations Cab, from 1996.

How about the rest of you?

On Christmas Eve we're having a smoked Oscar's ham (the best I've ever had, made here in upstate New York). Piper-Heidsick NV Champagne and a bottle of

1990 Drouhin Clos de Vougeot Red Burgundy.

Christmas Day at my brother's with the prime rib I'll be bringing another bottle of Piper Champagne and a bottle of 1989 Pichon-Longueville Baron Red Bordeaux.

We spend Christmas Eve with my wife's siblings, and since I'm 100% Swedish and my wife's family is 50% we'll be enjoying herring, Swedish meat balls, Wasa brod, potato soup, other delights and whatever "bubbles" my brother in law brings (always good). However, we don't do lutefisk! Christmas day is a "free day" where all we have to do is wrap more presents, drink a few Tom and Jerry's, and get ready for the onslaught of my kids and grandkids. :-)

Wishing you all a happy holiday season. Dick R.

Happy holidays to you all, thanks so much for sharing your knowledge and experiences over the past year...haven't decided what to open, as I am bachelor-gal this year...maybe Tollot-Beaut Chorey 1998, or Mumm Napa Blanc de Noirs... Best wishes to everyone!
