Wine clubs in San Diego

This post may be a little strange, but would you go in San Diego to talk to other people about wine and taste it? Mone of my friends cares much for wine. I'm not really interested in evangelizing them. They've tried it, they don't mind it, they're just not that interested even though we can discuss good beer all day. But it annoys me that I have a nice 2003 Domaine Chante-Perdrix Chateauneuf-du-Pape sitting right here and don't know anyone who would really appreciate it.

I'm not a snob, in fact I don't know a whole lot about wine other than some basic style info and what I like. But I'd certainly like to share it, maybe over food, and talk about it. A web search was fairly disappointing. The only thing I can find are singles dating things, which is not really my aim at all. Though since I don't know anyone else interested I would have to show up alone.

Any thoughts? Maybe even a winemaking club since homebrewers seem to have the best appreciation of beer, but I don't know how clubby those really are.

This guy is very active in the San Diego wine scene and could probably direct you toward something helpful. He writes a regular column in a local paper and seems to know people at all levels of wine interest. The following is a quote that appears at the end of each article he e-mails to subscribers:

"Andy Abramson writes about wine every week in the Del Mar Times. He can be reached by e-mail, snipped-for-privacy@winescene.com ."
