How do you get red wine stains out of a rug?
This might help:
I haven't done a thorough study, but white wine and sparkling wine are very good at getting red wine out of fabric. A mix of soda water and white wine works very well, too.

I spilled some red wine, obviously accidentally, on the carpet a few weeks ago. I immediately poured cold water over it and then sucked up the mix with a Shop-vac. I repeated the process a couple more times to make sure that I had removed the wine completely.
Traditional remedy I use when needed: salt. Spread a lot of salt (I mean, a thick covering) over the spill and press it down to ensure good contact. Then leave it for a week. Magic.
