Sorry, Domaine de Jalle. It is in Vidauban. Also try Chateau Font du Broc in Les Arcs.

Say Michael, I am an hour away from St Tropez. Problem is I leave saturday morning for .... California... how long are you in the area for?

You can try Château Minuty, on of the 27(?) Cru Classé's in the Provence. Minuty is in Gassin, that's near Saint-Tropez. These is another winery nearby which is nice but I can't remember the name. But is is on the same road and within 500 meters or so.

Minuty is good.

However, Robert, beware of this classification that really has no value, it was created by a group of winemakers in 56 and somehow recognized (local politics are somewhat colourful...), but it is no more than a private club of businessmen, there are absolutely no quality criteria, and no possibility to remove or add wineries from the list.

As a result, of the 15 (I think) domaines, some are good, some are mediocre, some are positively bad. Mainly, none of these can be considered as the top wineries in Cotes de Provence.

You are right! That list has nothing to do with quality. (but is there a classification of quality in France......?) I just mentioned it for extra information, you never know if someone likes it for that. But I had several wines from Minuty and I liked them. Their wines cost more than others because of this Cru Classé status?

I had to visit Domaine du Noyer (Bormas les Mimosas) and that is also a Cru Classé, the wines were not bad but not good either. The domaine was very old place and not like Minuty at all!

Yes, well, many are like that. Like I said, no relation to quality. And the best wines are not Cru Classe.

You could also try Domaine des Chaberts at Garéoules near to Meounes. Their wines are well above average for the area and reasonably priced.
