Does anyone know of a *good* wineshop on Maui. Safeway seems to be stuck on Chardonnay & Reisling; Costco has a better selection & could be an adequate fall-back, but are there any independent shops?

Yes. Mr Wine in Lahaina is (or at least was) an excellent wine shop. As I recall, they are on east side of Front St. They have a good, eclectic and, for Hawai'i, reasonably priced selections. Also, in Wailuku, there is a Costco. I think they also have a wine selection, but have not shopped there. In AZ, each Costco has a different selection, so you might not get better than at Safeway.
