Yes it was allright ...

Hello For those who noticed my previous call fore help concerning a pairing of Nebbiolo di Langhe with a mushroom risotto but felt unable to answer: YES. It worked very well indeed. My personal objection was that the wine was heavy on the tannines, but, it was very rich, well structured with a very heady palate of violets, liquorice, and perhaps a bit smokey. Nose was subdued but had mushrooms, perhaps a bit of smoked ham and just maybe the beginning of liquorice. At SEK 99, good QPR, but woud have ameliorated considerably with some cellar time - say three years to start with. Most striking, to me, was how differently we perceived the tannines. To the DYnamic DUo, tannines were strong and domineering, to the GWI, they were laid back and gentle ... our third neighbour couple sided with us ... So, if you feel like having a Enzo Boglietti 2004 with a mushroom risotto, go ahead. But, if you have the option, wait at least three years. Else, dos as we did - open and carafe the wine three hours in adance.

Cheers

Nils
