Champagne Corks?

Aug 21, 2003 2 Replies

Has anyone used real Champagne corks when making sparklers?? I have the plastic stoppers but I much prefer the look of a real cork. I don't know of a source for corks nor a piece of equipment for a home winemaker to insert them. Thanks in advance!

I looked long and hard into this and found a machine from Switzerland that would insert champagne corks. I've also seen multi-function corkers that claim to insert champagne corks but I've never seen a picture or anything.

As for the corks themselves, I'm not sure but you could try contacting these fellows But I'm not sure they would sell small quantities to a home winemaker. I've basically settled on the idea of using the plastic ones. HTH

The winemaking shop in St. Louis, MO sells champagne floor corkers. It looks like a regular floor corker, but has a larger jaw system. They also sell the corks.
