Vino del Vida Wine Kits

Does anyone have any experience with the Vino del Vida Red Zin Wine Kit? Would this be a good kit for a newbie to cut his teeth on?

Thanks!

I've got a "Barolo" kit aging now and am not particularly enthusiastic about it. It seems like it will be a reasonable but not very interesting wine. In comparison, I've also got a Mosti Mondial Chardonnay juice kit going that seems like it will be a surprisingly good Chardonnay.

My suggestion if you are interested in good wine is to get one of the higher end kits even to start out. The only downside is that it takes a few weeks longer to get something drinkable.

Pretty much a cheapie kit. Try one of the better ones as your first.

Note-I have no objections to the cheap kits. I have made from Limited Editions top quality ones right down to rock bottom (Like 25 bucsk a kit from Sams Club, incluing corks, labels, capsules!). Sometimes I don't mind the cheap wines from those kit for guzzling with pasta and the like, but if you want good stuff, start with a better product. What else are they selling locally?

Cut your teeth on a mid-range white or two and then switch over to a high end red. Whites generally come out better than reds and even a mid range kit will produce ok or better wine. Only a high end red IMHO is worth it and why take a chance on a high end kit as your first.
