2005 Thierry et Pascale Matrot Meursault

I was given a couple of 375ml of 2005 Thierry et Pascale Meursault (under screwcap) as samples recently and I opened one tonight as I was solo. The wine was way off. Very oxidized, over-ripened rotten apple smell. The flavors were horribly oxidized, bitter and just flat out bad. I opened the other bottle with the same results...bad wine or bad shipping or bad seal?

I re-sealed one of the bottles and tasted again this morning. The color is clear and still light golden but the nose is still very ripe/ oxidized apples and the wine is very bitter and astringent on the palate leaving the impression that one get's after gargling with hydrogen peroxide. Must have been cooked somewhere along the line. Pity.
