That's a good walk from the center of Hexham...especially with a few beers inside! Does anybody know if the Globe or Tap and Spile are still open ?
My experience with Hexham goes back a few years, and the pubs in town were alright, BUT ... I really gotta say, The Dipton Mill Inn was well worth the drive out! The ales were wonderful and the meals were incredible. On our trip, we first drove out in the daytime and walked the hike that begins and ends at the pub, stopping for a few beers. That convinced us to take the drive again in the evening for a meal. Well worth it. I am really pleased to see that the Dipton Mill Inn is still going strong. We worried that the crackdown on over-limit driving might kill it off.

yep, I'm familiar with the Dipton Mill but, like the Crown Inn, Catton. You need somewhere else to drive. The Crown is the brewery tap for the Allendale Brewery. Gotta be worth a shot!

that's someone else.

There's a Wetherspoons with cinema, off the Market Square. There are a couple of other real ale pubs in the town centre, I'll post details later (not at hand currently)
There's also the famous Rat Inn at Anick which is just about within walking distance.
It's come to mind, the Wetherspoons is the forum. And I think the Tap & Spile is still open (Battle Hill)
I thought these two .. but it's a long since we last went
That's a main entry in the Good Pub Guide.
