"Leonard Cheshire has produced a report into the accessibility of pubs and bars in the UK, based on the results of a series of audits conducted by Leonard Cheshire service users, staff and volunteers.
"The report contains the findings from those audits, as well as information for landlords on making their pubs and bars more accessible."
The survey proves that disabled customers are treated a lot better than non-disabled pub customers.
42 percent of pubs had dedicated disabled parking
This is a much higher percentage than I find for non-disabled parking. Most pubs that I visit have no parking facilities at all!
50 percent of pubs have a disabled toilet.
Most pubs don't have adequate toilets for the non-disabled customers (that are clean with taps that work, with soap and towels)
The survey comments on the fact that 79 percent of staff were helpful to the disabled.
This is a greater percentage than that for non-disabled customers. They obviously didn't survey many JDW establishments or the figure would have been closer to zero (for any class of customer)
I personally find such surveys a complete waste of time because any pressure group will always obtain the results they want. It's very much like the Government telling any beer drinking, car owning, gas using, local tax paying householder that inflation is less than two percent.
Yep, just insult someone when you don't like people questioning your posts.
The survey was biased as shown by the questionnaire. The questions asked didn't reflect the discrimination aspect of the law and didn't ask how the facilities compared with those for 'non-disabled' customers.
The thought of being unable to visit a pub because of disability isn't acceptable to me (Apart from anything else it could be me in the future who is disabled) Problem is that many pub buildings are old , have awkward changes of levels , steps and all sorts of things which make things even more difficult for the disabled.Generally we find that in such cases the staff or customers are more than happy to lend assistance.
How does one type with one's arse? Is yours very small with finely pointed and well-separated buttocks capable of being independently aimed at individual keys? Do you have special trousers?
