North Yorkshire help???

I have narrowed down my choices of Pubs with accomodations for my upcoming trip in May to two places.

One location is the Nags Head Inn in Pickhill. I like the location of this pub for walking as there are 3 GBG pubs in walking distance of it. Also it has many amenities that I like.

The other location is the Maypole Inn in Long Preston. The things I liked about what I read about this pub is that the village is decribed as picturesque and that the accomodations are 20 pounds a night (per couple) cheaper than the Nags Head (which equates to almost $40 US per night). There is not any walking/rambling info for this pub however which is a must for our trip.

If anyone has any experiences visiting either of these places I would be interested in hearing about it.

Hi Bruce

The Maypole is an excellent place to stay for good quality ale and food. If you check out our website

formatting link
you may find some useful info on our pub crawl of North Yorkshire, the link to Yorkshire Dales Public Tranport may be useful too. Our local guide is available in some of the pubs featured, the Maypole should have some to sell or it may be easier via HQ if you would like it in advance. Walking in the Dales is good. Let us know how you go on.

The Nag's Head is one of my favourite pubs. I live over 100 miles away, in East Anglia, but every time I pass by I stop in for a meal and a drink. The food is great, the beer is even better, and the hospitality is the best I've ever found in a pub. It is also very convenient for the A1 (north south road), which means easy access to the Yorkshire Dales and the City of York, where many more good pubs can be found! Highly recommended!
