Roy Bailey on BBC4

Was that Roy Bailey I saw on BBC 4 tonight, something to do with a pub name change? Lots of Protz as well!

None other.

He was outside the Castle which had been restored to its original name after a rather sorry period of inappropriate renaming as "the Pig in Hiding" for some totally obscure reason that had sprung festering from a marketing mans mind.

He also mentioned another pub renamed as "The Brewers Droop"

At his relaxed best - i.e. obviously the beer at hand wasn't the first :-)

The main comment from all concerned was that the pub isn't for young people, or for old people, for rich people or for poor people: it is simply for people. Oh, and the blindingly obvious thing that seems beyond the understanding of big brewers and pub co management: The licensee IS the atmosphere of a pub, if he/she has all the personality of a bucket of penguin poo, so has the pub.

In article , Steven Pampling writes

God, that was shot several years ago!

Roy.

Roy Bailey West Berkshire.
