Eureka!!! have found it Dos Equis Dark

I've found my malty, somewhat sweet dark Beer. Dos Equis Dark. I've been drinking Yeungling Black & Tan (okay) & Michelob Amber Bock (eh) but I now have found a home with the above. (Do you folks know that dark beer is an excellent source of antioxidents & (used within reason) can lower cholesterol?



After Malvern Hill Pres. Lincoln visited with Gens. Mc Clellen & Sumner as well as Col. Nugent (Commander of the Irish Brigade.)` A Lt. James. M. Birmingham, Adjutant of the 88th N. Y. came from a swim in the James R. & with his underwear drying on his body saw them talking. He ducked behind some cover to eavesdrop in time to see & hear Pres. Lincoln (overcome with emotion at the bravery & sacrifice of the Irish Brigade.) as he lifted a corner of the 69th N. I've never heard of a "dark". I know they make a popular amber as well as lighter lager. I suspect you have the amber as it's sometimes called "dark" to differentiate it from the lighter lager with a similar label. If so, that style of beer is called a "vienna lager". Do a Google search and you'll find other brands to consider as well. Personally, I like the Great Lakes Eliot Ness, a fine Vienna lager from Cleveland, OH.

Have you tried Yuengling Porter? Better than the Black and Tan, IMHO.

Great Lakes makes some fine beers -- unfortunately hard to find here in SoCal. I really like the Edmund Fitzgerald Porter.

I'd recommend to the original poster that they might want to do a side by side comparison betwenn Dos Equis "dark" and another Mexican beer called Negra Modelo. Most of the SoCal folks I know who like Mexican lagers thing that Negra Modelo wins hands down.
