First lawnmower beer sighting of 2004

Bell's Oberon Ale. It's light enough, well balanced, and doesn't have a fizzy taste like some of the other summer beers. Bell's is even marketing it as their summer beer.

Yup, it showed up locally a couple weeks back. It has been their summer brew for quite a few years. Not a bad change of pace beer.

My new summer beer is 3Floyds Gumballhead. Like Oberon with some cajones.

What kind of cajones?? Higher ABV or in the flava dept? I have to admit I love Oberon, it's one of the first micro's to drink. Plus, it's the name of my dog.

Huge yellow hop cojones-- Amarillo, to be exact. It's got a huge burst of that lemony Amarillo hop flavor. I'm not sure about the ABV, but it drinks like an average abv beer.

In my corner of the country, Hale's Koelsch - brand new for them, and one of the (surprisingly) most authentic American-brewed versions yet. I still don't support them using the term "Koelsch," but then I don't support that for anyone brewing outside of Cologne's "apellation controlee" region. Doesn't mean it isn't a good warm-weather beer, though.

Those are the cajones of which I speak. Additionally, Oberon has some fruity overtones that just don't appeal to me.
