Buying Scotch of E-Bay

Just wondering, do any of you buy Scotch off e-bay? I noticed most have disclaimers that the scotch is for collection only, not for drinking. I assume when people buy it they buy it to drink. Is that safe? I was punching up a few Scotch names on e-bay and did find this:

Would you bid on this if you had the money? Since on-line stores don't ship to my state I wonder if buying Scotch of e-bay could be a way around that.

Do you imagine they take out the original Ardbeg 27-year-old and replace it with tastefully caramel colored water that looks even better than the original (for collectors)?

If that happened then Von Fourche wouldn't need to worry about running afoul of his state laws.

(In other words, VF, you'll still break the law for accepting a shipment from across state borders. Sorry.)

Von Fourche,

I am a regular purchaser on e-bay and have not as yet had any problems. The Ardbeg looks well priced at the moment and the shipping is reasonable too. If you have the cash, go for it. This will definately be a good investment and a super drink should you wish to open it.

I'll watch the sale with interest.
