Viniology Kits?

I have seen Chardonnay and Merlot wine kits from a company called Viniology advertised on the web. Haven't seen any mention of them in this newsgroup. They're quite inexpensive. Has anybody tried them? Gotten reasonable results?

Generally "inexpensive" means "lacking in Body, flavour, vinosity(?)..... usw!!!!!!!"

If you appreciate wine in its many different aspects and you are going to use a "kit" then please do go as far upmarket as you can. "Inexpensive" does create shudders in more than my mind when one is talking about wine in general and wine kits in particular. But there are some very good results from wine kits -- particularly white wines --- red wines are more problematical! So with white wine kits you can veer to the less expensive but with reds do that at your peril!

Apparently, Boreal is asking for a pretty hefty price for the Viniology kits. If you shop around a bit, you can easily beat the $40 price that they're asking. Let's start on ebay:

*NEW* Viniology CHARDONNAY Wine Kit price: US $19.95

Viniology Merlot Zinfandel Wine Kit..... price: US $21.95

Those are the "buy it now" prices. You might save a few bucks if you bid in the auction. Or, if you don't like ebay, try

where you can find them for $30.

Of course that doesn't include shipping, but I assume Boreal would charge you shipping too...
