2000 Couvent des jacobins St Emilion Grand Cru Classe

I watced the movie Jet Lag ( Decolage horaire ) the other night and got inspired to make the veal medallions that Jean Reno throws together in the movie I added a brown rice pilaff with chicken stock and sauteed portobello mushroom and chose the 2000 Couvent des Jacobins to accompany it. Mon Dieu! My wife whom I met 14 years ago today has been left muttering "this is the best thing you have ever fixed for me!" The receipe is available at

see the movie but the wine - I have been very disappointed with St. Emilion's lately with more than a decent sampling of corked wine, but this one opened and grew better, silkier as the night went on. the perfect accompaniement for the veal in a balsamic reduction. It will not keep long, the harsh tannins if they were ever there are gone, leaving a soft and elegant finish. I really wish I had the words but I would buy more of this at the measly $24.99US that it set me back and in fact I will!!!

Recipe is better than the movie, but the movie is cute. You will note they paired with Calon Segur 96 but that was what Jean Reno's character liked in wine
