There it is folks, the very words of my savior. Not only does He save my soul but He also advises me to skip the tarty fresh riesling after imbibing the cellar aged cabernet.

Thanks for your concern. We ALL feel the same, as you do, hence NONE of us drinks beer - only wine!

We greatly appreciate your offer of free books, but most of us have got Jancis Robinson and OZ Clarke tomes, that we have not read yet, even though they are gathering dust in our libraries. It's a case of too much wine, and too little time.

As for "confession," well, I confess that I really, really like older Chards, provided that they were well constructed to begin with, and then stored properly.

You have made me feel so "tarty," as I have an affection for young Rieslings, but... I also like many of the older ones. Only problem is that I don't let them get that much age on them, before they are all gone. When the opportunity allows me, I love a '70s Spatlese!

Re Societal Ruin Light bulb moment: Its the beer causing global warming, aggressive foreign policy, massive slaughters and genital herpes. Wow and all along I thought it was silly SPAMMERS.

Don't get me wrong. I love rieslings. One of my favorite summer quenchers is Landshut riesling that I buy by the case at Aldi. From the money I save on this budget wine, I then splurge on a spatlese such as Kerpen. The last one I had was an '03 which had that beautiful damp straw nose with a mouthful of lemon and grapefruit with a mineral finish. Drank it on the porch with toasted pita slathered with garlic and chive cream cheese.

Still a novice with tasting notes and food pairings, but I'm having fun.

Do not discount the SPAMMERS. They cause much grief in the world too. According to Al Gore (and we all know that he single-handedly invented the Internet), everything NOT caused by G W Bush is caused by SPAMMERS. Now, we find that beer is responsible for some of the things that were originally attributed to G W Bush, but that still leave a lot, about which we can point our fingers, to blame on the the SPAMMERS.
