It isn't often that I get a chance to buy Bougueil locally so I tend to get excited. When my local wine wharehouse showed up with Domaine de la Chanteleuserie 2004 I jumped for 3 bottles. Opened the first last night. At worst Bourgueil is a great young drink at best one that will age, this one was at best a so so drink it now.
Tarry notes on the nose were a little disturbing, the color was a beautiful deep violety purple and I had hopes, but the wine was at best nice the tarry notes kept peeking out from around the fruit (when it was fruity it was nice I hope that this is a bottle variation), but hardly as pleasant as my current house wine, La Vielle Ferme Coteaux de Ventoux produced by the zillions of gallons as best I can tell.
c'est la vie!
