Ch Smith Haut Lafite 00

Oh what have I done. I decided to forgo the Amarone and bring out this little wonder. I didn't really get the flavors on the nose, but got this overall dark sensation that went well with the deep deep color in the glass. A sip and I am transported to some very dark club, my head spining, no I am still in the kitchen, darn. Then the aftershocks come and go and come and go. I think I could love this wine. Beverly is thrilled, the question now is skip dinner or no.

It was good adn the steak, a filet, excellent. What dampeded the wholethingfor me was a nagging suspicion that the cork was not as good as it could have been. there was a slight mustiness to it and the cork crumbled slightly as I opened it, that and the trail of wine along the edges . . . not corked but compromised a bit. Still better than the average bear and a good wine for a birthday that goes along with a certain Beatles song.

Beware of those aftershocks - now over 5,000 in Christchurch (since September)

Cheers

You are a tad early on the greetings, it was Beverly. I send her ahead on all of these missions sort of like Kowalski in the John Wayne movies "Kowalski, take the point!"
