Comitti or Scarpitti

Enough, ora basta, ca suffit, ich habe eine Nase voll, ara basta !

No more replies to Scarpitti or Comitti or any other transuranics on this NG. Please, resist the temptation, or we will be stuck with the fallout for months.

No more. Finito. Die Ende.

PS: how does one filter messages on Forte Agent? I have never used a kill file, but this requires action.

Salut/Hi Mike Tommasi,

Easy-peasy. With message showing, press CTRL-K (for kill). Then when the window opens, make sure it is the Author which is to be killed (top section). You can paste then author with the "paste author" button. You should then see something like

Expression: Author: snipped-for-privacy@wherever.com

Next section, make sure the radio button Kill action is against Delete rather then "mark read".

I suggest you make the scope Global, which will make him invisible wherever you go.

Finally. I suggest a nice high priority like 400

Make sure "expire this filter after " is _unchecked_ and that the button "Apply filter to group immediately" is checked. I'd also suggest that you make sure the button "this message only" is unchecked. That's it. Most of these choices should be the defaults.

Finally press the button "OK". You may have to confirm the kill.

Once you've set up your kill filter the way you like it, pressing CTRL-K on any offending message will use these same defaults and it becomes a real pleasure to watch them disappearing into the ether!

What requires action is for people to stop believing the myths about wine.

My 2 cents (AU).

By definition, if Mr. Scarpitti is a troll, then this constant menitoning of him is sating his desire for attention and recognition.

If someone says wine should only ever be drunk whilst hopping on one foot, reciting Scottish hymms with one eye closed with your pants around your ankles and a rubber chicken up your nose on the cliffs of Dover, and never at any other time, that is up to them.

If they disagree (however vehemently) with your experience or well versed knowledge, concede a difference of opinion and move on. Remember the saying "never argue with an idiot, they bring you down to their level so they can beat you"? That's a good one to think about next time your flame finger gets itchy.

From what I've read of his work in this group, Mr. Scarpitti is on the less noxious side on the scale of trolls (if you indeed think he is one).

I disagree with much of what he says, but it doesn't drive me to the lengths of mentioning him every 10 posts. His constant jibes at the French and the associated politics with that haven't driven me to rebuff, and that is something I feel much more strongly about than whether your chianti should be decanted or not.

So in conclusion, whilst I take the side of the knowledgeble regulars (i.e.: not Mr. Scarpitti), I don't feel the need to have a dig at him every five seconds. If he bothers you that much, killfile him, and get on with life.

I don't think he is a troll, more an inflexible zealot, and therefore all this confrontation simply sates his needs.

So, let's all make a pact, if Mr. Scarpitti drives you up the wall

*IGNORE HIM*. Simple. Killfile him even. Sit back and enjoy the satisfaction of knowing you are right.

And yes, I am aware of the hypocrisy of continuing a thread I've just poo-pooed at length. :-)
