Cooler red wine

Put a bottle of Zin in the fridge by mistake. Left it in about 30 minutes so was drunk at about 65 degrees fahrenheit. Was great. Won't mention the label, but red wines IMHO are better colder than warmer. Just learned this tonight. Not cold, just not warm. The fruit blasted out. Rich R.

In warmer months I probably put red wine in the fridge for a few minutes (probably less than 30 minutes though) 90% of the time. Unless I'm bringing up from cool cellar. I guess I aim at 66- 68 F for most reds, ,maybe 60-62 for Loire reds.

Too warm and wines show too fat (low-acid).

As noted here many times before, when the convention of "room temperature" was started, people weren't living in homes with central heat set for 72.

There is, presumably, some reason that not mentioning the label has significance in this discussion. What on earth could it be?

Not really, it was a Cline 2001 California Zin. Cline California Zin has been my house red for about five years. We live in New Haven, CT, and have many French, Italian, and Russian friends. So for the red drinkers, we always use a Zin. But one time I put a syrah in the fridge by mistake (always popping a chard in the fridge for my wife) and I had the same results. I have a martini before dinner, so that is why I get confused at times.
