Is there a Sena equivalent?

Jan 14, 2008 2 Replies

Hi,

I'm looking for a nice wine in the $100 price range to open this week for my wife's birthday. I was looking for a bottle of Sena,

2001-2003, but there doesn't seem to be any at the LCBO in my city, Ottawa, Canada.

If you know of other comparable wines, could you let me know?

Thank you.

Phil

I'm not sure what you're asking for specifically; are you looking for something that's a ringer for Sena, or are you asking for a nice Bordeaux-style red blend?

It's been a long time since I last had Sena, but I tend to recall it was very much styled in a New World red-blend way. I'd suggest Beaulieu Vineyards's Tapestry red blend, which retails for around $50 in the US (usually less at Costco).

Are you specifically looking for Chilean red blends? Maybe: Errazuriz "Don Maximiano" Lapostolle "Clos Apalta" Montes "Alpha M"

If more generally Bdx grape blends from New World, many choices (including BV Tapestry as Dana notes)
