OT I know, but thought some here might have a suggestion. I have finally given up on thunderbird (or near enough as) and am looking for another newsreader that will work under linux (trying "pan" here).
Any suggestions are very welcome!

slrn appears to be a popular choice amongst the linux set, Emery. Can't vouch for it myself, though.
