2004 Jurtschitsch Sonnhof Pfarffgarten Gruner Veltliner Where's Michael Pronay when you need him? I don't know if I got that right- I think Sonnhof is the producer (at least it's in the biggest letters). First wine of the night that I wouldn't think of buying for myself. There's a little bit of a lentilly GV thing there, but mostly anonymous kind of flat wine. C+/B-Hi I can always dig up some facts when Michael is not present :-) Jurtschitsch is the family name, Sonnhof is the estate and my source includes a hyphen in between for the entity (a big one btw) Pfaffgarten is a vineyard of which I know nothing. This winery, cellarmaster Paul Jurtschitsch, is of a solid good class, a nationally ranking property. 2003 vintage was outstanding, it seems to me, the 2004 less so.
2001 Alzinger Loibner Steinertal Riesling Smaragd Austria's honor is restored. Beautiful wine- steely, yet with good white peach fruit. Slightly austere at the moment, needs time, but a beauty. A-Now there is an outstanding producer and an excellent vineyard.. A mere 7th the size of the above mentioned, this is international class!
