2004 Jurtschitsch Sonnhof Pfarffgarten Gruner Veltliner Where's Michael Pronay when you need him? I don't know if I got that right- I think Sonnhof is the producer (at least it's in the biggest letters). First wine of the night that I wouldn't think of buying for myself. There's a little bit of a lentilly GV thing there, but mostly anonymous kind of flat wine. C+/B-

Hi I can always dig up some facts when Michael is not present :-) Jurtschitsch is the family name, Sonnhof is the estate and my source includes a hyphen in between for the entity (a big one btw) Pfaffgarten is a vineyard of which I know nothing. This winery, cellarmaster Paul Jurtschitsch, is of a solid good class, a nationally ranking property. 2003 vintage was outstanding, it seems to me, the 2004 less so.

2001 Alzinger Loibner Steinertal Riesling Smaragd Austria's honor is restored. Beautiful wine- steely, yet with good white peach fruit. Slightly austere at the moment, needs time, but a beauty. A-

Now there is an outstanding producer and an excellent vineyard.. A mere 7th the size of the above mentioned, this is international class!

You mean for this property, for Kamptal, or Austria in general? So far I've generally preferred 2004 Austrians to 2003s.
