After a non-descript and not very pleasant Sancerre, meant to accompany a frothy cockle soup, with the main course we opened this bottle which our neighbour Rutger bought for us as a Christmas gift from our second neighbour, Svend the Garage Wine Importer. [c] light gold [n] very pleasant, nuts, butter, yellow plums, smoke? [p] continues nutty, buttery, fruity, a bit of floral notes. Acidity is restarained and pleasant. Length is good. Overall impression: "Candy for grown-ups" (that was Xina). Could have passed for a minor commune in the Cote d´Or without comment, or even an entry-level Meursault from a good producer. I would have said it was good QPR if I´d known the price, which, it being a gift, I don´t. As it is, I´ll just say it is very good and obviously begs to be compared to the big boys in the North. The restrained acidity makes it good to philosophise about how everything´s well with the world, the deity of your choice is in his/her heaven, or whatever.
