Yellowtail prices around the world

Nov 15, 2006 36 Replies

I am doing an unscientific survey of Yellowtail prices around the world. Will appreciate your posting the total out of pocket cost (including sales taxes, VATs, etc.) of a 750 ml Yellowtail bottle--the plain stuff, *not* the Reserve line.

Here in Miami, Florida, my local Publix supermarket sells it (as far I have seen, all varieties cost the same) for US$7.99 plus a tax of 7%, $0.56, for a total of $8.55.

So, wondering how much you pay for the little kangaroo (or is it some other marsupial) where you live.

Thanks.

As far as "around the world", I'm pretty sure that Yellowtail is an export label intended for North American and UK market. So sample size is likely to be very small elsewhere.

In NY it runs $6-7 mostly. Sales tax varies between 7.x and 8.5 depending on jurisdiction. Say $6.50 is typical.

I assume reserve means they used more oak chips?

Do you have to pay any taxes in addition to that?

tax included, as always in Europe

includes excise tax of CAN$ 0.89 per litre.

At the PA Wine and Spirits Shoppes, several of the Yellowtail regulars are on sale $6.99; the others are $7.99. The Reserve line is $12.99. Sales tax is 6% here.

You are not missing much. I remember a distinctive flatness, totally lacking in acidity, and real simple oak flavour.

3 varieties of this in Norway at about 15.60USD a bottle. In Sweden the Merlot is 9.90USD, the others 11.15USD. Anders

Here is Santa Cruz, CA Trader Joes always has the Yellowtail Shiraz for $4.99. There is $.08 CRV (recyling tax) + 8.25% sales tax, so $5.48US.

Raleigh, NC - Kroger has it for $4.99 though sometimes $5.99 plus 7 percent tax.

Thanks for the warning, Mike T. I was happy enough with Alice White and Lindemans offerings.
