Does homemade wine tend to give a headache more offen than commercial wine? If so, why?

My experience has been just the opposite.

Also, I find that I am more inclined to have ill feelings after drinking too much if the wine is highly oaked.

I've found, the drier the wine, the less of a head-ache. It's the sugar I think

Yes, it certainly does! If I have a couple of friends over and we get to trying wine that I made we might go through 6 or 8 bottles and I am definately in danger of getting a headache. With comercial wines, I would never serve more than 2 bottles for the same evening and would not get much of a headache. And I KNOW that Paul Lehmann is aware of this effect!

My experience has been just the opposite as well. I just came across this article the other day, more theories than anything else, but interesting nonetheless:
