My backyard chambourcin has 2 months to go before harvest. I have eliminated squirrels and birds as threats. Now biting insects which look like minature New England deer flies are boring holes in them. And of course the wasps are zooming in. I have heard of hot sprays. Is this an answer?
Thanks Tim

I'm not much of a gardener, but one organic method that works well is to buy cayenne pepper in bulk and dust the veg/fruit with it. Repels almost anything that gets it in or on itself, but needs reapplication also. Try health food type stores for bulk amounts. You can dust the ground around the plants too. If you're going to use a soap-type repellent you can apply the pepper afterwards.
I make no claim to be a grape grower. I only offer this FWIW as you seem to be trying to avoid toxins. If you use this beware of your own skin/eye, etc. exposure - A handful of cayenne pepper in your eyes will put you in the ER fer sure. Even skin exposure can burn. You will curse my name 'till the day you die. But,.. it is absolutely natural and non-toxic.
